About Camp Easterseals Virginia
Camp Easterseals Virginia operates as part of Easterseals PORT Health and has been providing recreational and therapeutic camp programming for children and adults with disabilities for 65 years. The camp is located in New Castle, Virginia and offers activities like horseback riding, canoeing, swimming, arts and crafts, ziplining and campfires. Job Details
Camp Easterseals Virginia (ESVA) is hiring for the summer season. They are seeking passionate and energetic individuals to fill various roles, including:
• Camp Counselors: Support campers in daily activities, including arts and crafts, adapted sports, swimming, and campfires. Assist with personal care tasks such as transfers, feeding, and dressing.
• Program Specialists (including Lifeguard and Equestrian Specialists): Plan, adapt, and lead engaging activities for campers with varying physical and developmental needs. Supervise activities, maintain program areas, and assist with camper care.
• Kitchen Staff: Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals tailored to campers’ dietary needs, including accommodating food allergies and preparing pureed meals. Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and adhere to health and safety standards.
• Nurses and Medical Staff: Administer medications, provide first aid, and respond to medical emergencies, including managing seizures and other health conditions. Provide specialized care, maintain medical records, and ensure health protocols are followed.

Requirements:
• Must be at least 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or GED required (some college coursework preferred).
• A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Physically able to lift and assist with transfers (up to 45 lbs) and assist with other personal care tasks. Must be comfortable with bending and kneeling.
• Commitment to a minimum of 4 weeks at the camp.
