Amentum is actively seeking dedicated Software Engineering Professionals with a strong background in software development education and/or experience. This role focuses on supporting critical software development and integration tasks utilizing C++ or C for significant Naval projects located at Dahlgren, VA.

As a key member of our expanding systems and software engineering team, you will contribute diverse skillsets to multiple software contracts within our Software Center of Excellence. We are looking for individuals who thrive in a collaborative team atmosphere, eager to tackle and solve complex Digital Engineering challenges. This is an opportunity to apply your expertise to the latest DoD weapons and sensor systems, playing a vital role in modernizing the Navy and directly contributing to mission success.

Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent communication skills, enabling effective interaction with both customers and fellow engineering personnel. This position is on-site in Dahlgren, Virginia, where Amentum has proudly supported the customer for over 50 years.

C or C++ Junior Developer Responsibilities Include:

• Conducting C++ and/or C software development specifically for the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) weapon system, in support of Naval projects/programs.
• Collaborating closely with a Senior Amentum developer, adhering to Agile development principles.
• Performing thorough analysis and problem-solving techniques in support of professional scientific/engineering work.
• Demonstrating the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within established teams and across various organizations to achieve defined goals.

Minimum Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another applicable technical field. Equivalent experience may be considered as a substitute for the education requirement.
• 0-5 years of experience in software development.
• Must possess an Active SECRET US Government Clearance. Please note: US Citizenship is a prerequisite for obtaining a SECRET Clearance.
• Candidates must maintain a valid Real ID driver’s license for access to the customer site and have access to reliable transportation (rideshare options such as Uber, Lyft, etc., are not permitted), as this position requires occasional travel between local worksites during the week.

Skills/Experience Requirements:

• Proficiency in C++ or C programming languages.
• Familiarity with Agile Development methodologies.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with QT or Motif is considered a bonus.

Compensation

Factors that may influence the starting pay within the provided range include geography/market, specific skills, educational background, relevant experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Compensation Details:

US: $80,000 to $110,000
