Amentum is actively seeking dedicated Software Engineering Professionals to join our growing team. This role focuses on software development and integration utilizing C++ or C, directly supporting critical Naval projects at our Dahlgren, VA location. You will become an integral part of our systems and software engineering team, contributing diverse skillsets to multiple software contracts within our Software Center of Excellence.

The work for this position is primarily on-site in Dahlgren, Virginia, where Amentum has proudly supported the customer for over 50 years.

C or C++ Junior Developer Responsibilities Include:

• Conducting C++ and/or C software development specifically for use within the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) weapon system, in support of Naval projects/programs.
• Collaborating closely with and supporting a Senior Amentum developer, adhering to Agile development principles.
• Applying strong analytical and problem-solving techniques to support professional scientific and engineering work.
• Demonstrating the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within established teams and across organizations to achieve defined goals.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another applicable technical field. Equivalent experience may be considered as a substitute for the education requirement.
• Experience: 0-5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Clearance: Must possess an Active SECRET US Government Clearance. (Note: US Citizenship is a prerequisite for obtaining a SECRET Clearance).
• Logistics: Candidates must maintain a valid Real ID driver’s license for access to customer sites and have access to reliable transportation (rideshare services like Uber, Lyft, etc., are not permitted), as occasional travel between local worksites during the week is required.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Proficiency in C++ or C programming languages.
• Familiarity with Agile Development methodologies.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with QT or Motif is considered a significant advantage.

Compensation:

The estimated compensation range for this position is $80,000 to $110,000 USD. Factors influencing starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
