Job Description: C/C++ Junior Developer at Amentum (Dahlgren, VA)

Amentum is actively seeking highly motivated software engineering professionals with a background in software development to join our growing team. This role supports critical software development and integration efforts in C++ or C for Naval projects located at Dahlgren, VA. As part of our Systems & Software Engineering team, you will contribute to a diverse range of skills within our Software Center of Excellence, tackling complex Digital Engineering challenges and making a significant impact on modernizing the Navy’s latest DoD weapons and sensor systems.

Successful candidates will possess excellent communication skills, as direct interaction with customers and engineering personnel is a key aspect of this role. This position is on-site in Dahlgren, Virginia, where Amentum has proudly supported the customer for over 50 years.

C or C++ Junior Developer Responsibilities Include:

• Supporting Naval projects/programs by conducting C++ and/or C software development for the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) weapon system.
• Collaborating with and supporting a Senior Amentum developer using Agile development principles.
• Applying analytical and problem-solving techniques to professional scientific/engineering work.
• Demonstrating the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within established teams and across organizations to achieve project goals.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another applicable technical field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience: 0-5 years of relevant experience.
• Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance.
• Transportation: Candidates must maintain a valid Real ID driver’s license for customer site access and have access to reliable transportation (rideshare options such as Uber, Lyft, etc., are not permitted) as occasional travel between local worksites during the week is required.

Skills/Experience Requirements:

• Proficiency in C++ or C programming languages.
• Familiarity with Agile Development methodologies.
• Effective communication skills (both written and verbal).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with QT or Motif is considered a bonus.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation Details:

The estimated compensation range for this position is $67,000 to $87,000 annually. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geography/market, specific skills, education level, relevant experience, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
