Associate/Vice President – BlackRock Global Markets COO Team | Blackrock

The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role for an Associate or Vice President at Blackrock, located in London, England. The COO Platform Development team within BlackRock Global Markets (“BGM”) focuses on the governance, oversight, and evolution of the Markets platform, alongside risk management, business continuity, and large strategic projects across their Trading, ETF Markets, and BlackRock Capital Markets businesses. This position is crucial for representing BGM Markets in broader firm-wide initiatives, driving operational excellence and discipline, managing cross-functional projects, and supporting the innovation of the business platform while meticulously managing risk to deliver for clients.

• Team: COO Platform Development team within BlackRock Global Markets (“BGM”), working with the leadership team.
• Mission: To ensure governance, oversight, and evolution of the Markets platform, mitigate risk, ensure business continuity, and lead strategic projects for BlackRock Global Markets.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Risk Mitigation: Assist in mitigating risk across BGM Markets, managing complex challenges through to appropriate outcomes.
• Initiative Leadership: Lead global initiatives impacting Markets teams, which are often created by regulatory change, the market ecosystem, and strategic corporate objectives.
• Platform Governance: Apply governance and oversight to effectively manage vendors and platforms utilized by global market-facing teams.
• Technology Onboarding: Work with traders and trading partners to onboard new counterparties, trading platforms, and other technologies to evolve and create robust scalability for the trading platform.
• Business Continuity: Coordinate business continuity plans and processes across all Markets teams globally to ensure optimal solutions that always support Blackrock’s clients.

The Must-Haves
• Background: At the Associate or Vice President career level, with a fundamental knowledge and keen interest in capital markets, technology, and ongoing developments in the changing landscape of trading.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and independently across regions with market facing colleagues, portfolio managers, and business partners, to drive consensus decision making and deliver key markets related strategic projects.
• Skills: Critical thinking and problem-solving with strong analytical skills to understand, translate, and solve complex, often unstructured, issues; a knowledge and understanding of global markets to enable independent solutioning of challenges; ability to articulate and translate ideas into audience-appropriate communication; sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion.
• Bonus: Knowledge of industry technology and system analytics.
