Donor Recruiter | OneBlood

The Tone:
This is an in-person role at OneBlood, a dedicated blood center serving a vital public health mission. OneBlood is committed to ensuring a safe, adequate, and stable blood supply for the communities it operates within. This position plays a critical and visible role in directly engaging with the public to secure essential blood donations. By actively recruiting potential donors at various promotional, community, and corporate events, this individual ensures that each blood drive successfully meets its projected collection goals, thereby directly supporting the ongoing availability of life-saving blood products. The role demands consistent, positive interaction in diverse outdoor and indoor environments.

The TL;DR

What You’ll Actually Do
• Recruit Donors: Engage proactively with potential donors at various promotional, community, and corporate blood drives, encouraging their participation to achieve desired collection projections for each event.
• Inform Donors: Strategically display and manage posters and signs, providing clear and comprehensive information to potential donors to facilitate their decision-making process.
• Support Events: Provide direct assistance to designated staff members by distributing refreshments and gifts to donors as requested, enhancing the overall donor experience.
• Cultivate Relationships: Actively contribute to maintaining and strengthening the positive relationship between OneBlood and the dedicated chairpersons of various blood drives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A high school diploma or its equivalent is required for this position.
• Experience: Candidates must possess a minimum of one year of relevant experience and/or specific training in a related field.
• Skills: Essential skills include basic computer proficiency, specifically with Microsoft Office applications. The role requires the ability to effectively present information and confidently respond to questions from diverse audiences, including managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Candidates must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English fluently. Problem-solving skills are crucial, particularly the ability to address practical problems and manage various situations where standardized procedures are limited. The individual must also be capable of interpreting a wide range of instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats. Additionally, a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record are mandatory, along with the ability to commute using personal transportation. The position requires the ability to work outdoors 100% of the time, with potential exposure to conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, fumes, poor ventilation, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature extremes, noise, machinery, and moving vehicles.
