Job Title: Payroll Clerk / Payroll Assistant (Bilingual English & Spanish)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Bilingual Payroll Clerk / Assistant to join our team. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for our field employees, particularly those involved in fruit harvesting. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills in both English and Spanish, a keen eye for detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. This position requires someone who can manage multiple tasks, adhere to strict deadlines, and provide excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll inquiries.
Job Contributions and Key Responsibilities:
- Attendance Management: Audit and accurately import attendance data for field employees in a timely manner.
- Payroll Deadlines: Assist in setting and communicating payroll data cutoff dates to relevant teams.
- Payroll Adjustments: Process various payroll adjustments, including but not limited to pay rate changes, lost time, deductions, and other necessary modifications.
- Workflow Management: Effectively manage the payroll workflow to ensure all transactions are processed accurately and meet critical deadlines.
- Data Reporting: Be responsible for providing accurate reports related to fruit harvesting and employee timekeeping to facilitate complete and correct payroll processing.
- Report Preparation: Prepare comprehensive payroll reports and effectively answer questions related to payroll data from employees and management.
- Payroll App Oversight: Oversee and monitor information within the payroll application to ensure employees receive accurate compensation.
- Issue Escalation: Promptly notify the Payroll Supervisor of any issues or discrepancies requiring their attention.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration: Liaise with the Payroll Supervisor, Data Collection team, and other departments on payroll-related matters.
- Project Assistance: Assist in various project work as needed to support payroll and related functions.
- Ad-Hoc Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall operational needs of the payroll department.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Software Proficiency: Proficiently use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Bilingual Communication: Ability to communicate fluently (verbal, listening, written, presentation) in both English and Spanish is required.
- Organizational Skills: Demonstrate a very high level of organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Customer Service: Exhibit a high level of customer service orientation when interacting with employees and other departments.

Education & Experience:
- Education Level: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Years of Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ experience in office clerical functions is necessary, with payroll experience strongly preferred.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Driver’s License: Must possess a valid California Driver’s license and the ability to be insured under the company’s insurance policy.
Language Proficiency:
- English: Spoken: >95%, Read: >95%, Written: >95%
- Spanish: Spoken: 85 – 95%, Read: 85 – 95%, Written: 85 – 95%
Necessary Software Proficiency:
- Microsoft Office Suite: Proficient
Travel Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 5% of the time to local ranches as needed.
Compensation:
Pay Scale: $22.00 – $26.00 per hour
