Associate Vice President, Contract Compliance & Performance | Mount Sinai Health System

This is a full-time leadership role at Mount Sinai Health System, located in the New York metro area. This position is vital for establishing enterprise governance, analytics, and performance management to ensure payer contracts are accurately interpreted, operationalized, and reflected in reimbursement outcomes, ultimately improving financial performance and reducing revenue leakage.

• Team: Reports to the Vice President of Revenue Reporting and Intelligence; leads a multidisciplinary team.
• Mission: Establish an enterprise framework to ensure payer contract terms are accurately interpreted, operationalized, monitored, and reflected in reimbursement outcomes, improving financial performance and strengthening contractual compliance.
• Tech Stack: Epic (hospital and professional billing), Contract modeling and management tools, Reimbursement analytics and payment validation technologies, Enterprise data warehouse, Automated monitoring and exception identification, Data visualization, Artificial intelligence (AI).
What You’ll Actually Do
• Enterprise Leadership: Develop and execute the enterprise strategy for payer contract compliance and performance, establishing governance and standardized monitoring processes.
• Contract Operationalization: Provide enterprise oversight for translating negotiated payer agreements and reimbursement methodologies into operational and system requirements.
• Reimbursement Performance & Validation: Lead enterprise efforts to determine whether actual payer reimbursement aligns with contractual expectations and drive resolution of material variances.
• Analytics & Revenue Intelligence: Establish an enterprise analytics and reporting framework that provides actionable intelligence regarding contract performance and reimbursement.
• Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic leadership for the Contract Compliance & Performance function, including organizational structure, budget management, talent development, and roadmap execution.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, finance, business administration, accounting, health information management, or a related field; enterprise leadership experience in healthcare finance, payer contracting, reimbursement, revenue cycle, contract compliance, or revenue analytics.
• Experience: 12–15+ years of progressive experience, with significant leadership in payer contract performance, reimbursement analytics, or payment validation within a large academic medical center, integrated delivery network, or complex healthcare organization.
• Skills: Advanced knowledge of healthcare payer contracting and reimbursement (both hospital and professional), strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities, ability to interpret complex contractual language and translate requirements into operational/system specifications, excellent executive communication and presentation skills, and strategic thinking combined with strong operational execution.
• Bonus: Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, MPH), experience with Epic hospital and professional billing environments, experience supporting payer negotiations and contract strategy, experience with contract modeling, reimbursement analytics, or payment validation technologies, and experience with healthcare data analytics, automation, and artificial intelligence.
