Equity Research Associate – Fintech | KeyBank

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at KeyBank, located in New York, NY, with a hybrid work model. KeyBank is a major financial institution, and this position is part of its KeyBanc Capital Markets (KBCM) team, focused on equity research within the Fintech industry. The role is crucial for supporting senior research professionals in dissecting industry trends, company performance, and securities to inform critical investment decisions and market insights for the firm and its clients.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Research & Analysis: Collect, evaluate, and apply statistical and financial data concerning the economy, financial markets, and common stocks within specific industries.
• Investment Insights: Analyze and synthesize researched data to present trends and ideas for business opportunities and investment decision-making processes.
• Financial Reporting: Formulate and issue opinions and recommendations on securities and companies in one or more industry groups.
• Modeling & Documentation: Assist in financial statement modeling and prepare reports, opinions, recommendations, and statistical data for the firm’s investment policies.
• Stakeholder Support: Answer inquiries from firm personnel and prepare special studies, models, forecasts, or presentations for Syndicate or Investment Banking groups on security offerings.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field, or completion of no less than three senior-level accounting and/or financial analysis courses.
• Experience: 1+ years of experience in an analytical or financial role, specifically with corporate financial modeling.
• Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, experience with building financial models and equity data manipulation, ability to conduct thorough and independent research, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access.
• Bonus: Strong interest in financial markets, a working knowledge of market dynamics and influences, and the ability to synthesize data and articulate findings through excellent presentation skills.
