The Tone:

The role of Associate Director, with a focus on Functional Testing and Quality Engineering, is critical for upholding and advancing the firm’s commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable technological solutions. This position plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing comprehensive testing strategies across various complex projects.

• Mission: Lead the strategic direction and execution of functional testing efforts to ensure the highest quality and integrity of software products and services across Deloitte’s engineering portfolio.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop and Direct Functional Testing Strategies: Formulate, implement, and continuously refine advanced functional testing strategies, methodologies, and processes that align with industry best practices and Deloitte’s quality standards. This includes defining test scope, objectives, and success criteria for complex projects and solutions.
• Oversee End-to-End Test Lifecycle Management: Take ownership of the entire functional testing lifecycle, from detailed requirements analysis and comprehensive test planning to meticulous test design, execution, defect management, and insightful final reporting. Ensure thorough coverage and rigorous testing to identify critical issues early in the development process.
• Drive Quality Assurance and Engineering Excellence: Champion robust quality engineering principles within the organization, actively promoting automation, efficiency, and continuous improvement in all testing practices. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to embed quality considerations and best practices throughout the entire software development lifecycle.
• Lead and Mentor Quality Engineering Teams: Manage, inspire, and develop a high-performing team of quality engineers and testers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and accountability. Provide clear guidance, support, and mentorship for their professional growth and skill enhancement.
• Strategic Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting: Act as a primary point of contact for all functional testing initiatives, engaging proactively and effectively with engineering leadership, product owners, project managers, and clients. Provide clear, concise, and insightful reports on testing progress, quality metrics, and risk assessments to inform decision-making.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A distinguished career at the Associate Director level or equivalent, demonstrating profound expertise in functional testing methodologies and broad knowledge of quality engineering disciplines. A strong foundation in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies is expected.
• Experience: Extensive experience in leading and transforming functional testing operations, including managing significant teams and complex projects within an enterprise environment. Demonstrated success in implementing robust testing frameworks and consistently delivering high-quality software solutions.
• Skills: Expertise in designing comprehensive functional test plans and cases, advanced proficiency in defect management systems, and a deep understanding of test automation principles. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for this leadership role, enabling effective collaboration and strategic influence.
