Associate Director – Accounting Advisory (Operational Accounting/Controller) | CrossCountry Consulting

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Accounting Support: Aid clients in developing streamlined monthly close processes, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting various aspects of accounting compliance.
• System & Process Guidance: Guide the implementation of cloud-based finance and accounting systems, manage efficient external audit processes, and partner with IT teams for system integration during acquisitions.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Support SEC filing, design robust reporting processes, assist with restatements, and improve financial planning and analysis including budgeting and forecasting.
• Operational Optimization: Advise clients on utilizing AI and automation tools to streamline close processes, improve forecasting, and enhance data-driven decision making.
• Team & Business Leadership: Lead project teams, develop junior team members, and actively contribute to business development initiatives for the Accounting Advisory practice.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, combined with 8+ years of experience spanning advisory and controllership roles.
• Experience: 8+ years of experience in advisory and controllership roles for commercial or PE-backed portfolio companies, built on a strong foundation in professional services (public accounting, advisory firm, or management consulting firm), including 2+ years of hands-on Controllership experience in emerging growth middle market organizations or PE-backed portfolio companies.
• Skills: Ability to utilize AI and automation to optimize accounting processes; proven ability to build strong client relationships; a track record as an influential change agent; demonstrated success in mentoring and leading teams to resolve complex issues; and hands-on experience or significant exposure to various ERP systems and tools.
• Bonus: CPA or CA certification preferred.
