Assistant Manager Trainee | Sherwin-Williams

The Tone:
This is an accelerated, entry-level, in-person training program at Sherwin-Williams, designed to prepare current employees for a Store Management role. Sherwin-Williams inspires and improves the world by coloring and protecting what matters, and this role is crucial for developing future leaders. You will learn to oversee a million-dollar business, providing leadership and strategy to grow the company’s market share by selling high-quality products to commercial users. The TL;DR
• Role: Trainee (accelerated path to Assistant Store Manager)
• Type: Full-time (44 hours per week, may include evenings/weekends)
• Location: In-person

• Team: Collaborates with store management
• Mission: Grow market share by developing and implementing business strategies for a store, ensuring customer satisfaction, and preparing for a management role.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Training Completion: Consistently complete all aspects of the established management trainee program.
• Business Strategy: Support the development and execution of strategies designed to increase sales and optimize store profitability.
• Customer Relations: Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service and build positive relationships with both wholesale and retail customers.
• Store Operations: Complete store administration tasks, maintain outstanding store condition, implement visual merchandising standards, and ensure compliance with policies.
• Sales & Leadership Support: Partner with the Store Manager for outside sales calls to increase market share and support employee training, development, and performance management.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Must be at least 18 years of age, legally authorized to work in the the country of employment without sponsorship, and possess a valid, unrestricted Driver’s License. A High School diploma or GED is required.
• Experience: Entry-level role, with preferred experience of at least one year in a retail, sales, or customer service position, and one year in a leadership role supervising others or leading teams.
• Skills: Ability to learn and apply customer service excellence, sales and marketing principles, financial management, and operational understanding. Must be able to build and maintain product knowledge for effective customer recommendations.
• Bonus: Willingness to relocate for future job opportunities, an Associate’s degree or higher in business, sales, or marketing, previous work experience selling paint and paint-related products, experience using timekeeping and/or customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in more than one language, especially Spanish.
