Assistant Director, Facilities & Event Management | NCAA
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at NCAA, located in New Orleans, Louisiana. Tulane University, a distinguished research institution and member of the Association of American Universities, offers a wide range of academic programs and boasts a storied seventeen-sport athletic program. This position is vital for maintaining the operational excellence of athletic venues and ensuring the successful execution of intercollegiate athletic contests and special events, directly supporting the university’s vibrant athletic community.

• Team: Reports directly to the Director of Facilities & Event Management.
• Mission: To serve as the primary facilities operations point-of-contact for select athletic venues and the primary game/event management point-of-contact for multiple intercollegiate athletic programs and sporting events.
• Tech Stack: Blackboard card access system, EMS scheduling system, venue key management system, budgeting system, sport field lighting scheduling system, scoring system.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Facility Maintenance: Conducts daily routine maintenance, cleaning, orderliness, and facility checks of assigned athletic venues, and directly responds to or dispatches any issues requiring attention.
• Event Operations Leadership: Leads the preparation and execution of assigned intercollegiate athletic contests for multiple programs, including producing timing/event sheets, managing facility setup/breakdown, and coordinating all necessary event, security, medical, and law enforcement staff.
• Gameday Management: Assists with the execution of all Tulane Football home gamedays, overseeing specific assigned areas, addressing customer and fan issues, and collaborating with contracted and internal Tulane staff for a smooth gameday experience.
• System Administration: Manages daily facility management systems such as the Blackboard card access system, EMS scheduling system, venue key management system, budgeting system, sport field lighting scheduling system, and scoring system.
• Event Support: Provides support for assigned intercollegiate athletic contests and occasional third-party special events or rentals, contributing to their successful execution.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Administration or a closely related field.
• Experience: At least one year of experience in athletic facilities and/or event management, coupled with current First Aid & CPR Certifications.
• Skills: Strong interpersonal and writing skills, excellent organizational, management, and leadership abilities, proficiency in computer applications including word processing and spreadsheets, and a thorough knowledge of NCAA & American Conference rules and regulations.
• Bonus: A Master’s Degree or previous experience at the NCAA Division I level in athletic facilities and/or event management is preferred.
