Assistant Community Manager | Bender Companies
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Bender Companies, located in Battle Creek, MI. Bender Companies is an owner-operator specializing in the acquisition and management of value-add multifamily properties, owning and operating over 25 properties throughout the Midwest. This role is vital for supporting the Community Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring resident satisfaction, and contributing to the overall success and impact of the community.
The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: 9 AM to 6:00 PM (hours may vary), Saturdays required
• Location: In-person, Battle Creek, MI
• Pay: $20–$24 hourly, plus leasing commissions
• Team: Works closely with the Community Manager, supporting leasing and maintenance teams.
• Mission: Supports property operations to ensure daily activities run efficiently, residents are cared for, and the community performs at its peak.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Property Management: Assist the Community Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring the property runs efficiently.
• Resident Experience: Respond to resident inquiries and concerns, fostering positive relationships and a strong sense of community.
• Operational Excellence: Coordinate unit turnovers and repairs to meet market-ready standards and conduct regular property inspections.
• Financial Administration: Help manage budgets, monitor expenses, and assist with reviewing rent collections, renewals, and occupancy reports.
• Leasing Support: Support marketing and leasing efforts, including showing units and maintaining organized lease documentation.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Foundational management role within property operations or a related field.
• Experience: 1–2 years in leasing, assistant property management, or a related field.
• Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, excellent customer service mindset, solid experience with financial performance analysis, and proven leadership potential.
• Bonus: An entrepreneurial mindset and a continuous improvement approach to operations and resident satisfaction.
