The Tone:
This is a full-time Analyst role at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), with a hybrid work schedule of four days in an MUFG office or client site and one day remote. This position is vital for supporting the underwriting and portfolio management of sponsor-backed and corporate borrowers across key sectors, allowing the selected colleague to develop foundational expertise in sector-focused lending and credit risk management.

• Team: Portfolio Management Group (PMG) within the Sponsor, Growth & Middle Market (SGMM) platform, supporting Food & Beverage, Consumer & Retail, Environmental Services, and Diversified Industrials verticals.
• Mission: Support credit analysis, underwriting, and portfolio management for sponsor-backed and corporate borrowers to ensure sound credit risk management and transaction execution.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Portfolio Monitoring: Support ongoing monitoring of sponsor-backed and corporate clients, including periodic credit reviews, risk assessment, and performance tracking.
• Transaction Evaluation: Assist in evaluating and underwriting leveraged buyouts, mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations, refinancings, and growth financings.
• Financial Modeling: Build and maintain comprehensive financial models, incorporating base case, downside case, and sensitivity analyses.
• Documentation Drafting: Draft sections of credit approval memoranda, addressing client requests, business risk, transaction structure, and financial performance.
• Credit Administration: Coordinate portfolio account information across internal teams and support credit administration processes to ensure documentation accuracy.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree required, with a preference for Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. This is an Analyst-level position.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in commercial banking, corporate banking, leveraged finance, sponsor finance, private credit, credit risk management, or investment banking.
• Skills: Foundational understanding of corporate finance, accounting, financial statements, cash flow analysis, and credit risk fundamentals; strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills; proficiency in three-statement financial modeling, valuation, and credit analysis; strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: CFA or MBA is a plus; completion of a formal credit training program is preferred.
