Analyst or Associate, Investment Banking | National Bank of Canada
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at National Bank of Canada (National Bank Financial Inc.), located in New York, NY. National Bank Financial Inc. (FBN) is a fully integrated, full-service investment bank with a strong presence in the Electricity, Utilities, and Infrastructure sector. This position offers direct exposure to the firm’s activities, supporting a wide variety of transactions led by senior team members. The role is crucial for deepening industry knowledge and contributing to client capital decision-making within a growing team.

• Team: Investment Banking Electricity, Utilities, and Infrastructure team, consisting of approximately 15 people.
• Mission: Support senior team members in executing a wide range of advisory and financing mandates within the Electricity, Utilities, and Infrastructure sector, with a focus on renewable energy.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Presentation: Prepare presentation materials to support clients in their capital decision-making processes.
• Transaction Support: Provide assistance in the execution of Mergers & Acquisitions transactions.
• Financial Modeling: Design complex financial models and conduct comprehensive valuation analyses.
• Research: Lead a variety of research and analyses pertaining to the industry and specific companies.
• Mandate Execution: Support deal teams in structuring transactions and execute advisory and financing mandates with increasing levels of responsibility over time.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, accounting, or a business-related field.
• Experience: At least 1 year of experience in investment banking, transaction advisory, equity research, or capital markets for the Associate position.
• Skills: Knowledge of fundamental financial theory, accounting, and capital markets; exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; proven problem-solving ability, collaborative approach, and excellent teamwork; strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships; excellent communication skills in English (oral and written).
• Bonus: Experience or knowledge of the Electricity, Utilities, and Infrastructure sectors is appreciated.
