Analyst, Investment Banking – Industrials (New York) | Moelis & Company

This role is crucial as Analysts assume significant levels of responsibility, directly contributing to financial analysis, modeling, client presentations, and interactions with senior bankers and clients.

• Mission: This person supports senior bankers in delivering financial advisory services and M&A execution by performing core financial analysis and preparing client materials.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Modeling: Build and apply valuation models based on financial research and analysis, including comparable company analysis, discounted cash flow analysis, and comparable acquisitions analysis.
• Origination Support: Support senior managers in origination activities by preparing historical and projected financial statements, providing analysis of financial implications of mergers and acquisitions, and conducting public and private valuation analysis for major corporations.
• Execution Management: Engage in execution activities, including basic responsibilities such as data gathering, analysis, and material preparation, and manage standard processes like preparing deal documentation.
• Presentation Preparation: Prepare client presentations and analytical materials to support necessary credit, compliance, engagement committee, and balance sheet approvals.
• Market Analysis: Conduct corporate operations reviews, portfolio analytic reviews, prepare risk/return valuations, and gather and process market share data and shareholder and investor profiles.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Undergraduate degree.
• Experience: Prior experience as an Analyst in a relevant field; proven ability to perform well under pressure and against tight deadlines; strong multi-tasking skills; experience interacting effectively with a wide variety of internal groups and clients.
• Skills: Strong analytical and numerical skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel is essential); strong financial reporting skills.
• Bonus: An undergraduate degree with a focus in finance, business, accounting, economics, or mathematics is preferred.
