Analog Design Intern | Marvell Technology

The Tone:
This is an internship at Marvell Technology. Marvell builds semiconductor solutions that form the essential building blocks of the data infrastructure connecting our world, spanning enterprise, cloud, AI, and carrier architectures. This role is crucial for designing physical layer integrated circuits that enable high-speed optical fiber data communication, directly addressing the growing demand for bandwidth, capacity, and power efficiency in cloud computing and mega data center networks. This position contributes to the development of world-class, market-leading components for data transmission.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Pay: $39–$76 hourly
• Team: Broadband Analog group, a member of the design group
• Mission: Design and validate FET and BiCMOS circuits for high-speed broadband ICs serving data center and telecom applications.
• Tech Stack: EDA CAD tools

What You’ll Actually Do
• Circuit Design: Design active circuits for high-speed broadband integrated circuits.
• Amplifier Development: Develop leading-edge transimpedance amplifiers utilizing SiGe BiCMOS and advanced CMOS FinFET technologies.
• Millimeter-Wave Structures: Create transmission line and other millimeter-wave structures to achieve exceptional circuit performance.
• Supporting Analog Circuits: Design various analog circuits including linear regulators, automatic gain-control loops, current/voltage sensors, and bandgaps.
• Product Lifecycle Support: Collaborate with other functional groups on post-silicon validation, qualification, transition to mass production, and customer support.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing an MS or PhD in electrical engineering with an emphasis on analog/mixed signal IC design.
• Experience: Proven experience in high-performance receiver design, including chip tape-out and lab evaluation; experience measuring IC performance and debugging designs to correlate simulations with measurements.
• Skills: Solid experience using EDA CAD tools; proficiency in performing analog custom layout; deep understanding of detailed transistor level design, device physics, and control/feedback loop stability analysis.
• Bonus: Direct project experience in automatic gain-control loops, high-precision analog circuits (linear regulators, current sensors, bandgaps, DAC/ADC), or continuous-time linear equalizers; experience with package-system integration issues; project experience using SiGe BiCMOS and FinFET CMOS technologies; strong communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
