MBA Intern – AI Transformation | Beyond Type 1

The Tone:
This is an internship at Beyond Type 1, located remotely in the US. Beyond Type 1 is a global nonprofit co-founded in 2015, dedicated to improving the lives of those impacted by diabetes, serving the largest digital audience worldwide. Its mission involves supporting people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes through education, community engagement, and self-advocacy, aiming to drive innovation toward prevention and cures. This MBA Intern will act as an internal AI strategist, partnered directly with executive leadership to accelerate the organization’s adoption of artificial intelligence. This critical role involves evaluating tools, identifying opportunities, and enabling leaders to integrate AI into their day-to-day work in meaningful, practical ways, ultimately enhancing productivity, decision-making, and impact across the nonprofit.

What You’ll Actually Do
AI Strategy & Assessment: Partner directly with executive leaders to understand workflows and pain points, identifying high-impact AI opportunities and evaluating various AI tools based on organizational needs.
Recommendation & Executive Alignment: Develop and present a clear, actionable AI strategy and tool recommendations to executive leadership, including expected impact, ROI, risks, and governance considerations.
Operational Design: Collaborate with Operations and cross-functional teams to define AI usage parameters, establish best practices, and ensure alignment with data privacy, security, and organizational policies.
Implementation & Enablement: Lead the initial implementation of selected AI tools, create simple, practical training materials, deliver hands-on training sessions, and provide real-time coaching and troubleshooting support for executive users.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Master’s-level student currently enrolled in an MBA program at NYU Stern or Columbia.
• Experience: Proven ability to work effectively with senior leaders.
• Skills: Strong understanding of AI tools and trends, especially generative AI and productivity tools, and the ability to translate technical concepts into simple, practical applications for non-technical stakeholders in ambiguous environments.
• Bonus: Experience implementing AI tools in real-world settings, implementing workflow automation tools (Zapier, APIs, integrations), exposure to or training in change management or organizational transformation, and experience creating training materials or facilitating workshops.
