AI Intern | Battelle Memorial Institute
The Tone:
This is an internship at Battelle Memorial Institute, a leading nonprofit research and development organization that solves humanity’s most pressing challenges. This role will support the Finance and Enterprise Risk team, focusing on leveraging artificial intelligence and advanced analytics. The AI Intern will contribute to improving internal operations, strengthening risk management, and enhancing service across research and business teams. This is a chance to make an impact through hands-on learning and challenging projects in a mission-driven environment.

• Team: Finance and Enterprise Risk team, reporting to the Chief Risk Officer
• Mission: Support the adoption of AI and advanced analytics to improve internal operations and risk management within a nonprofit R&D organization.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Aid in the development and deployment of AI-enabled tools to enhance finance, risk, and operational processes.
• Evaluate: Help assess opportunities to automate or streamline internal workflows using emerging technologies.
• Research: Conduct investigations into AI applications relevant to finance, compliance, and enterprise risk management.
• Analyze: Examine data and contribute to developing insights that drive operational efficiency and informed decision-making.
• Collaborate: Work with cross-functional teams including finance, CIT, and business units to achieve project goals.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Current undergraduate or graduate student in business, finance, economics, data analytics, computer science, or a related field.
• Experience: Must be a US Citizen.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; Interest in artificial intelligence, automation, and operational innovation; Excellent communication and collaboration capabilities; Curiosity and willingness to work across a variety of projects.
