Internship – AI Infrastructure Datacenter Design | Confidential
The Tone:
This is an internship at Confidential, specifically within AI Infrastructure Datacenter Design. The company is involved in developing and managing AI and hyperscale data center environments. This role offers students or recent graduates the opportunity to support the engineering team in essential data hall design, documentation, and infrastructure planning. It’s a foundational position designed to provide hands-on experience and develop core knowledge in datacenter infrastructure, including AutoCAD drafting, rack layouts, and cabling standards, all under the direct mentorship of senior engineers.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Design Documentation: Create and update detailed AutoCAD drawings, including rack elevations, cabinet layouts, and comprehensive structured cabling documentation.
• Infrastructure Design Support: Assist in developing and maintaining data hall design documentation, managing asset tracking, and overseeing revision control for infrastructure plans.
• Data Management and Reporting: Validate infrastructure inventory, track basic capacity, and support the preparation of various project reports, spreadsheets, diagrams, and technical documents.
• Standards and Quality Assurance: Contribute to the maintenance of design standards, templates, and project documentation repositories, actively participating in engineering reviews, design walkthroughs, and quality assurance activities.
• Project Coordination and Learning: Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary project inputs, update design records, and learn data center infrastructure concepts such as power, cooling, and AI cluster environments.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing or recently completed an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• Experience: Possess a basic understanding of datacenter or IT infrastructure concepts. Familiarity with drafting and documentation tools like AutoCAD or Visio is considered a plus.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Demonstrates strong attention to detail, excellent organizational abilities, and effective communication skills.
• Bonus: A strong interest in AI infrastructure, data centers, networking, or cloud technologies is highly preferred.
