What Impact You’ll Make:

As a member of the Aero New Units Commercial Operations team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Aeroderivative Gas Turbine New Unit Sales team. Your support will span the entire deal lifecycle, from commercial and technical proposal development through contract signature and subsequent handover to our execution organization. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in managing and improving commercial processes within a technically complex and globally impactful sector.

You will contribute to the full Inquiry-to-Remittance (ITR) cycle and support the continuous improvement of sales & commercial operations through Lean principles and alignment with the Quality Management System (QMS). This role is ideal for individuals passionate about the intersection of engineering, business, and process excellence.

Job Description:

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the commercial teams involved in the Aeroderivative New Unit gas turbine proposals development process. This requires strong planning skills, influencing skills, and the ability to foster cross-functional teamwork.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of commercial dashboards, sales forecasts, and performance metrics to track customer opportunities, project status, and revenue targets (utilizing SFCS (SalesForce.com)).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, sales, product champions, finance, supply chain, project management) to streamline bid/tender processes, quoting procedures, and contract reviews.
  • Participate in commercial and sales meetings (including Risk Reviews) and accurately take notes or follow-up on actions as needed.
  • Help identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in commercial processes and support initiatives to improve throughput and accuracy using Lean tools and principles (e.g., value stream mapping, 5S, root cause analysis, and Kaizen events).
  • Participate in and support the implementation of Lean commercial process improvements, including standard work development, process mapping, continuous improvement reviews, and strategies to eliminate rework in the OTR chain by analyzing risk mitigation and opportunities recovery.
  • Support internal audits and documentation related to QMS compliance.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new commercial tools and process improvements.

What You’ll Bring (Basic Qualifications):

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in engineering.
  • Must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (without rounding).

Other Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to work in the US for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Interest in sales/commercial leadership, with experience in market economics, market challenges, technology, and projects, preferably within the power generation industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through either direct or indirect team management in matrixed organizations.

  • Strong financial management skills.
  • Strong project and contract management skills.
  • Proven capability to work effectively in a matrix environment.

  • The pay for this position ranges from $21.00/hr – $36.00/hr based on years of undergraduate/graduate field of study completed.

This Position Is Also Eligible For:

  • Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
  • Housing Allowance: Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.

  • GE Retirement Savings Plan (RSP): After their accumulated service reaches 90 days, and they meet any other eligibility requirements as defined in the plans. (Eligibility occurs on the 1st of the month following the 90th day.)
