Job Description: Advanced Engineering Internship
This is an Advanced Engineering Internship program at Vast, offering hands-on opportunities to design and build space hardware and software. Interns will play a crucial role in the development of systems required for the operation of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.
• Program Duration: 12 weeks
• Internship Period: Fall
• Location: Vast’s HQ based in Long Beach, CA.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will vary based on the intern’s area of expertise. Vast is specifically looking for candidates with experience in the following engineering disciplines:
• Thermal Hardware
• Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS)
Minimum Qualifications:
• Enrollment: Must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program from an accredited college or university.
• Discipline: Major in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or other related engineering discipline.
• Work Arrangement: Ability to work full-time onsite in Long Beach, CA.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Practical Experience: Application of technical skills outside of the classroom (e.g., extracurricular projects, volunteering, personal projects, laboratory research, or prior internship/work experience).
• Software Proficiency: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) for 3D modeling and simulation.
• Attention to Detail.
• Problem-Solving: Strong engineering problem-solving capabilities.
• Foundational Knowledge: Basic knowledge of engineering and equipment.
• Analysis Tools: Prior knowledge of analysis tools.
• Collaboration: Ability to collaborate across different teams.
• Attitude: Self-directed with a positive attitude and team spirit.
Pay Rate:
• Engineering Intern, Undergraduate: $33/hr
• Engineering Intern, Master’s: $38/hr
• Salary Range (California): $33—$38 USD
