Adult Education Intern | World Relief
The Tone:
This is an unpaid internship at World Relief, located in Upstate SC. World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization committed to engaging the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. For 80 years, the organization has worked across 100 countries to help families thrive and communities flourish. This Adult Education Intern role is crucial for walking alongside refugees and immigrants, equipping them with foundational skills for economic self-sufficiency and daily life in their new community.
The TL;DR

• Mission: To empower refugees and immigrants by providing educational and skill-building support for economic self-sufficiency.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Instructional Support: Assist the Adult Education Specialist with lesson preparation, instructional materials, and classroom setup for various learning sessions.
• Client Education: Support clients during English language learning, digital literacy, conversational practice sessions, and workforce readiness instruction.
• Program Administration: Help maintain accurate client records, files, and data entry in program systems, and assist with case management tasks under staff supervision.
• Workshop Coordination: Prepare materials and provide logistical support for workshops, classes, orientations, and group sessions, including coordinating schedules and communications.
• Resource Connection: Connect clients to community resources that support continued education, long-term advancement, and self-sufficiency.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Commitment to World Relief’s mission, vision, and values, alongside strong cross-cultural competency and a client-centered approach. Eagerness to learn and contribute in a multicultural environment.
• Experience: Ability to learn new databases and case management systems. Valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and a clean driving record are required.
• Skills: Clear verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Bonus: High school diploma or a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Fluency in additional languages such as Spanish, Ukrainian, Swahili, Rohingya, or Arabic is preferred. Experience or coursework in adult education, ESL instruction, or English language training is also a plus.
