Non-Profit Intern | St Culture Advocacy

The Tone:
This is a part-time, unpaid internship at United Matriarchy Nations, located in Palos Verdes, California, offering flexible hours and academic credit for students. United Matriarchy Nations is a non-profit organization based in Southern California, dedicated to supporting and preserving traditionally matrilineal cultures globally, which are facing challenges in maintaining their heritage amidst rapid changes. This role is crucial for assisting with the organization’s daily operations, public outreach, and media initiatives, directly contributing to the mission of increasing recognition and providing vital support, including technology skills and digital literacy, to these communities through partnerships and expert deployment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Communications & Outreach: Manage US and international outreach efforts, blog about organizational events and important information, and respond to questions from supporters, clients, and sponsors.
• Public Relations & Content: Create promotional fliers, draft official letters, meticulously edit and update office manuals, and actively work to increase the organization’s public reputation.
• Database & Office Management: Update and maintain the organization’s database, and ensure the office remains organized, clean, and tidy for efficient operations.
• Media & Script Support: Provide support by reading and covering screenplays/scripts for potential media partnerships to increase cultural recognition.
• International Coordination: Serve as the liaison between international team members to facilitate smooth communication and project execution across different regions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student with a desire to work with people from a variety of different cultures, bringing foundational understanding or interest in non-profits, film, or related industries.
• Experience: Prior experience in film, non-profits, or a related industry is required, demonstrating a practical understanding of relevant organizational or media landscapes.
• Skills: Possesses excellent organizational skills, strong cross-cultural communication abilities (both written and verbal), proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and the capacity to collaborate effectively while taking direction.
• Bonus: Fluency in a second language is considered a valuable asset, although not a prerequisite for the role.
