The TL;DR

• Type: Full-time (244 Day Work Year Calendar, 7 hours per day)
• Location: In-person, Frederick, MD
• Pay: $22.94 hourly
• Team: Student Services team
• Mission: Support the daily operations of the Student Services department to advance the district’s commitment to exceptional education and equity.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Provide essential administrative and clerical support to the Student Services department, ensuring the efficient and effective daily operation of all departmental functions.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for office communications, professionally handling incoming calls, managing correspondence via email, and accurately processing all incoming and outgoing mail.
• Maintain and update various departmental records, confidential student files, and databases with precision and confidentiality, ensuring easy retrieval and compliance with district policies.
• Prepare, format, and proofread a wide range of documents, including reports, presentations, memos, and official correspondence, ensuring accuracy and adherence to FCPS standards.
• Assist students, parents, school personnel, and community members with inquiries, providing accurate information, guiding them to appropriate resources, and scheduling appointments as needed for Student Services staff.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent qualification, demonstrating foundational literacy, numeracy, and general office aptitude necessary for administrative tasks.
• Experience: Requires at least one to two years of proven experience in an administrative support or office assistant role, with a strong preference for experience gained within an educational institution or a public sector environment.
• Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in general office procedures and standard software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email systems. Strong organizational abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Bonus: Familiarity with the specific operational procedures of a public school system or prior use of educational management software and student information systems will be considered a significant advantage.
