What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Development: Develop and deliver activity/recreational programming that promotes residents’ opportunities for engaging in normal life.
• Resident Assessment: Complete standardized assessment data for each resident at regular intervals and develop individualized care plans based on identified needs, strengths, and preferences.
• Care Plan Documentation: Complete the “Preferences for Routine and Activities” section of the Minimal Data Set, the CAA when triggered, and the Company Recreation/Activity Evaluation within five business days of admission.
• Calendar Management: Complete a monthly calendar of available activity/recreational programs and post it within the center.
• Engagement & Outreach: Plan community activities that jointly include the community, staff, families, and residents, while providing opportunities and support for resident involvement in group and individual leisure pursuits.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Accreditation as a Certified Activity Director, completion of a state-approved Activity Director training course, or a Bachelor’s degree in recreation therapy or a related area, with licensure or registration either nationally or by the State in which practicing.
• Experience: Minimum of one year of experience as an Activity Director in long-term care, or two years of experience conducting social/recreational programs within the past five years, with at least one year full-time in a resident activities program in a health care setting.
• Skills: Activity program planning and implementation, resident assessment utilizing tools like MDS, individualized care plan development, conducting admission interviews, and community engagement.
