Accounting Assistant | 99 Ranch Market

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at 99 Ranch Market, located in Edmonds, WA. 99 Ranch Market is the largest Asian supermarket chain in the United States, expanding its footprint with over 61 store locations across 10 states. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate financial record-keeping and supporting the accounts receivable process as the company continues its growth and cross-generational transition. The Accounting Assistant contributes to maintaining the financial health and operational efficiency of the organization.

• Mission: This person ensures the accurate reconciliation of store sales, customer payments, and credit card transactions, supporting efficient accounts receivable operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Sales Reconciliation: Reconcile daily store retail sales reports, verify postings, and communicate any identified issues.
• Payment Processing: Reconcile customer statements, match payments to invoices, and resolve discrepancies through inquiry and research.
• Dispute Management: Arrange necessary documents and respond to credit card dispute cases.
• Account Clearance: Reconcile credit card payments and clear associated accounts.
• Collections Support: Assist the supervisor in sending reminders for past-due accounts and contacting customers to request payment.
• Customer Relations: Respond to inquiries from customers and internal departments regarding all aspects of the accounts receivable process.
• Period-End Activities: Prepare and review monthly period-end closing activities.
• Process Improvement: Contribute to department-wide automation and process improvement projects.
• Ad Hoc Support: Perform other duties as assigned by management.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field is preferred. Additional education can substitute for experience.
• Experience: 1 year of experience in accounting, preferably within the retail, manufacturing, or logistics industry.
• Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently within a team.
• Bonus: Strong motivation for automation and process improvement, proficiency in using Excel (pivot and formulas), experience with SAP or other ERP accounting systems, and required bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin.
