Mill Accountant | Daybreak Foods, Inc.
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Daybreak Foods, Inc., located in Lake Mills, WI. Daybreak Foods and New Day Farms operate within the agricultural food production industry, focusing on operations involving grain, feed, and farm management. This position is vital for maintaining the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the mill accounting functions, ensuring accurate reporting on critical areas such as grain purchases, usage, and feed costs across all company locations.

• Mission: Owns the accurate financial tracking and reporting of grain purchases, usage, and feed costs for all mill and farm locations.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Grain Accounting: Process weekly grain purchases and accurately maintain daily position reports for all mill locations.
• Inventory & Costing: Prepare monthly inventory reports and calculate feed usage and associated costs for individual barns across all farms.
• Financial Operations: Perform various monthly accruals and reconciliations, and manage invoicing customers for manure deliveries.
• Compliance & Support: Maintain documentation required by state departments of agriculture and assist with the preparation of audit workpapers and provide support to the accounting manager.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related discipline. This is an early-career opportunity for an accounting professional with foundational knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience: Candidates should possess intermediate-level accounting knowledge, demonstrating a working understanding of basic office workflow concepts.
• Skills: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and intermediate accounting. Strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail. Polished interpersonal and effective oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
