Staff Accountant | Nortia Staffing – Human Resources, Accounting and Administrative Staffing
The Tone:
This is a hybrid Staff Accountant role located in Washington, DC, supporting a mission-based client through Nortia Staffing. This client is a mission-based organization seeking an accounting professional to manage its day-to-day financial operations. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate financial records, compliance, and smooth payroll and accounting processes within a collaborative and mission-driven environment.
The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Location: Hybrid, Washington, DC (2–3 days per week onsite, including Tuesdays and Thursdays, plus one Wednesday per month)
• Pay: $70000–$78000 yearly
• Mission: This person will own the day-to-day accounting process, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance for a mission-driven client.
• Tech Stack: Paylocity, Sage Intacct (or similar enterprise accounting system)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounts Payable: Manage the full-cycle accounts payable process, including vendor payments, employee expense reimbursements, travel requests, purchase requests, account coding, and payment processing.
• Accounts Receivable: Oversee the full accounts receivable cycle, including invoicing, recording receipts, reconciliations, and researching discrepancies.
• Payroll: Process full-cycle payroll using Paylocity, ensuring payroll accuracy, tax compliance, employee benefits administration, and timely payroll processing.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare journal entries, monthly account reconciliations, financial reports, and ad hoc financial analyses.
• Compliance and Audit: Support payroll tax reporting, W-2 preparation, annual compliance reporting, and audit activities.
The Must-Haves
• Background: An accounting professional with a minimum of 3 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger accounting, preferably holding a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, and possessing a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience: Requires hands-on payroll processing experience using Paylocity, with a minimum of 3 years across core accounting functions.
• Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities, coupled with the capacity to manage multiple priorities independently while collaborating across teams.
• Bonus: Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus, and experience with Sage Intacct or a comparable enterprise accounting system is strongly preferred.
