Accounting Specialist | Insight Environmental, Inc.

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Insight Environmental, Inc., a company dedicated to providing specialized environmental services. This position is a foundational support role within the Accounting Department, vital for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the company’s financial data. The Accounting Specialist will be instrumental in ensuring that financial operations run smoothly, from managing timekeeping and expense entries to handling accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger functions. Your meticulous work will directly contribute to reliable financial reporting and operational efficiency, serving as a critical link in the organization’s financial health.

What You’ll Actually Do
Timekeeping and Expense Management: Support the accurate entry of employee time, billable expenses, and units into the myTrack system, followed by thorough double-checking against Deltek entries for financial alignment.
Accounts Receivable Processing: Apply client payments (ACH, Wire, Check) to outstanding AR invoices, meticulously reconciling any discrepancies to maintain precise customer accounts.
Accounts Payable Operations: Enter vendor invoices into the Accounts Payable system with correct coding, execute weekly payment check runs, and manage the weekly import and review of credit card expenses.
General Ledger and Journal Entries: Prepare and enter monthly journal entries by collecting necessary data, analyzing costs, and providing support, while maintaining the overall general ledger accuracy.
Account Analysis and Departmental Support: Conduct regular account analysis to ensure correct balances and entries, and collaborate with other departments to uphold accurate accounting records across the company.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates should possess an Associate’s degree with relevant experience, or 2-5 years of direct experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role. A basic understanding of fundamental bookkeeping and accounting principles is required.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience with the Track Timekeeping system is essential. Proficiency in performing routine accounting activities such as data entry, including accurate 10-key by touch, is also a key requirement.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is mandatory for this role, as well as the proven ability to calculate figures and amounts accurately. The ideal candidate will also exhibit strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and robust organizational abilities, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication.
• Bonus: We are looking for a proactive self-starter who consistently seeks process improvements and efficiencies. Experience in conducting training on processes and procedures, and a commitment to high standards, would be a valuable asset.
