Accounting Intern, Statutory Reporting | Airbnb
The Tone:
This is a remote-eligible internship at Airbnb, requiring the intern to live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity. Airbnb was founded on the idea of connecting hosts and guests, enabling unique stays and experiences that foster authentic community connections worldwide. This role is crucial for the Statutory Reporting team, focusing on ensuring that Airbnb’s financial reporting for its international entities is accurate and compliant with diverse local requirements. As an intern, you will contribute directly to maintaining the financial integrity and regulatory adherence of the company’s global operations.

• Mission: Ensure Airbnb’s financial reporting for entities outside the US is accurate and compliant with local rules and regulations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Audit Support: Gather and organize essential supporting documents, such as bank statements, general ledger listings, and invoices, to respond to auditor inquiries for multiple statutory audits.
• Survey Preparation: Prepare comprehensive responses to important business surveys, ensuring all collected documentation accurately backs up the provided information.
• Data Analysis and Testing: Engage in sampling and testing journal entries, applying analytical skills to ensure data integrity and accuracy in financial records.
• Liability Investigation: Perform searches for unrecorded liabilities, identifying potential missing financial obligations and understanding their significance for financial statements.
• Financial Statement Contribution: Support the hands-on preparation of statutory financial statements and post relevant journal entries, experiencing the full financial reporting cycle.
The Must-Haves
• Background:
• A full-time first-year student pursuing a Masters in Accounting (preferred) or a Masters in Finance.
• Expected to graduate between December 2026 and Spring 2027.
• Must have work authorization for employment in the United States, with CPT/OPT accepted.
• Experience:
• This is an early career internship opportunity, therefore no specific prior professional experience is explicitly required.
• Skills:
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, including expertise in formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
• Demonstrated excellent communication skills for articulating thoughts, insights, and problem-solving approaches clearly.
• Strong analytical capabilities, coupled with meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and precision in all work.
• Exceptional organizational skills and effective time management, enabling the simultaneous handling of multiple projects and tasks.
• Bonus:
• Previous internship or full-time professional experience in an accounting or auditing role.
• Familiarity and experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as Oracle or NetSuite.
• A genuine interest in the Airbnb mission and product, with personal experience using the platform being an advantage.
