Accounting Intern | BrightSpring Health Services
The Tone:
This is a year-round internship at BrightSpring Health Services, located in Louisville, KY. BrightSpring Health Services delivers complementary home- and community-based health solutions for complex populations, encompassing pharmacy, home health care, and rehabilitation services across all 50 states to over 475,000 customers, clients, and patients daily. This role is a key opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting student to gain practical experience within a corporate accounting environment. The intern will directly support the Corporate Accounting team in maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with billing and cost reports, and ensuring compliance with GAAP, providing a well-rounded foundation in corporate finance.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger Management: Prepare and post journal entries and other monthly accounting activities to ensure a timely and accurate ledger close.
• Account Reconciliation & Analysis: Reconcile various accounts, perform trend and completeness analysis, and assist with corporate balance sheet accounts and analytical reviews of monthly activity.
• Financial Close & Audit Support: Support both the month-end and year-end close processes, and prepare necessary schedules and documentation for the annual external audit.
• Capital Expenditure Oversight: Process capital purchase orders, manage related invoicing and payments in Oracle Fusion, and reconcile discrepancies with vendors and accounts payable.
• Compliance & Reporting: Monitor compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company accounting policies, assisting with the preparation of internal financial reports and spreadsheets.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited university, majoring in Accounting or a related field, with a minimum 3.0 GPA and completion of introductory accounting courses.
• Experience: No prior work experience is necessary, but candidates must possess a basic knowledge of accounting principles.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), strong attention to detail and organizational skills, and solid analytical and mathematical abilities for interpreting technical financial documentation.
• Bonus: Familiarity with accounting software like Oracle Fusion, QuickBooks, or Xero is a plus, along with the capacity to maintain confidentiality and adapt to new technologies in a collaborative environment.
