The Tone:
This is an internship at Aprio, located in Charlotte, NC. Aprio is a Top 20 CPA and advisory firm with over 3,200 team members across 40 U.S. and international office locations. This role matters because it offers high-performing accounting students the opportunity to gain meaningful exposure to public accounting, contribute to client work, and develop essential technical and professional skills. Interns will dive directly into hands-on client work, collaborating with experienced professionals.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Engagement: Assist with the preparation of tax returns and participate in assurance engagements.
• Financial Analysis: Support clients in tax research, planning strategies, and evaluating internal controls and financial reporting processes.
• Data Examination: Analyze financial data and documentation to identify tax-saving opportunities, compliance considerations, or potential risks.
• Team Collaboration: Work with team members to deliver practical tax solutions and help clients maintain compliance with evolving accounting standards.
• Professional Development: Participate in group projects focused on volunteering and social impact, networking events, and skill-building sessions.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level accounting major pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a minimum 3.3 GPA.
• Experience: On track to meet CPA eligibility requirements with a clear plan to pursue licensure; interest in a full-time public accounting career; authorized to work in the U.S. without employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting; exceptional verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated initiative, problem-solving, and strong attention to detail; ability to work effectively and collaboratively.
