The Tone:
This is a hybrid internship position at PPL Corporation, located in Louisville, KY, requiring in-office presence 2-3 days per week. The successful candidate will join the asset accounting department, taking on a range of critical accounting duties. This role is fundamental in supporting the accurate analysis and reporting of the company’s fixed assets, directly contributing to the integrity of financial information. The intern will gain valuable hands-on experience by assisting with key financial processes, from monthly closings to the preparation of essential financial documents. What You’ll Actually Do
• Analyze Fixed Assets: Conduct detailed analysis of fixed assets activity, scrutinizing transactions and data to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper classification within the accounting system by reviewing various records and reports.
• Develop Reports and Analyses: Plan and develop comprehensive financial analyses and reports, utilizing advanced Excel functionalities alongside specialized enterprise resource planning systems such as Oracle and PowerPlan, to present complex financial data clearly for management review.
• Collaborate for Data Collection: Work closely and professionally with both operational and financial employees across different departments to gather necessary financial information, which is crucial for collecting complete and accurate data required for various reports and analyses.
• Support Monthly Closing Process: Provide direct assistance in the critical monthly closing cycle by preparing various journal entries to record financial transactions and conducting thorough balance sheet reconciliations to ensure all accounts are accurate and properly balanced.
• Organize and Maintain Financial Records: Be responsible for compiling, organizing, and maintaining significant volumes of financial data and files, including creating new files and ensuring existing records are systematically organized and readily accessible for reporting and ongoing departmental needs.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an entry-level internship specifically designed for students currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Applicants must be enrolled full-time, carrying at least 12 credit hours per semester, to qualify for this developmental role within the asset accounting department.
• Experience: Candidates are required to demonstrate excellent computer proficiency, with a particular emphasis on strong working knowledge and practical experience using Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 is also a mandatory qualification for consideration.
• Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills are crucial for effective communication and collaboration within the team and with other departments. Strong written communication skills are necessary for preparing clear and concise reports and documentation, while above-average oral communication skills will facilitate effective information exchange.
