Accounting Intern | Rapid Response Monitoring

This is an accounting internship at Rapid Response Monitoring, located 100% in-office in Syracuse, NY. Rapid Response Monitoring is a national leader in the monitoring of alarms and security systems, designated as an Essential Business by the Department of Homeland Security, dedicated to protecting life and property. Founded in Syracuse in 1992, the company operates as a critical response center, serving thousands of alarm companies across the country by protecting life, residences, and businesses 24/7, 365 days a year. In this role, you will be a vital support to the accounting and finance team, gaining hands-on experience with real-world accounting procedures and contributing to the efficient operation of this essential service.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Financial Support: Assist the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Financial, or Tax teams with a variety of daily tasks and contribute to month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Documentation & Filing: Prepare supporting documentation for audits and financial reporting, alongside organizing and filing both digital and physical financial documents.
• Database & Reconciliations: Update accounting databases with current information and perform account reconciliations, identifying and reporting any discrepancies.
• Tax Team Assistance: Support the Tax team by gathering and organizing financial data for compliance and audit purposes, including preparing schedules and documentation for tax filings.
• Tax Research & Projects: Conduct tax research on regulatory updates, summarize findings for management, and participate in special projects related to tax planning or process improvement.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Experience: Fundamental understanding of accounting principles.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail; ability to work in a corporate environment and meet deadlines; and capacity to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
