What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Data Analysis & Compilation: Perform professional accounting work that involves compiling, consolidating, and analyzing diverse financial data, utilizing general accounting and financial principles and techniques.
• Reporting & Disclosure Preparation: Draft segments of financial statements and disclosures, ensuring all information is complete, accurate, and adheres to internal management and parent company (Aegon) reporting requirements.
• Account Reconciliation & Adjustment: Reconcile, investigate, correct, and adjust accounting information accurately and in accordance with aggressive deadlines.
• Financial System Utilization & Analysis: Leverage multiple financial systems and reporting tools to produce a variety of financial analyses, and assist in the consolidation and reporting of budget and forecast results.
• Problem Identification & Internal Controls: Proactively identify and address unique accounting problems, such as reconciliation or posting issues, seeking assistance when necessary, and ensure adherence to the company’s framework of internal controls.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled at a college or university pursuing an accounting degree. Other similar degrees such as finance or business analytic-type degrees may be considered if the student has an interest in accounting principles. Must not graduate prior to the conclusion of the internship.
• Experience: Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; analytical and problem-solving skills.
