The Tone:
This is a part-time internship at Apex Companies, located in Oakbrook, IL with a hybrid work schedule. Apex Companies provides comprehensive solutions for the material handling industry, specializing in warehouse design, material handling integration, automation, and equipment servicing to enhance operational efficiency. This role is crucial for a current accounting or finance student to gain practical experience, supporting the accounting team with essential day-to-day operations and month-end close activities.

• Team: Reports to a Senior Accountant, works closely with the accounting team
• Mission: Supports day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close activities to ensure efficient financial processes.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Business Central (ideal), Microsoft Excel, accounting software, ERP systems

What You’ll Actually Do
• Journal Entries: Record various journal entries accurately into the financial system.
• Transaction Support: Assist with activities related to accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Reconciliation Assistance: Support the reconciliation processes for bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts.
• Month-End Close: Contribute to various duties performed by the accounting team during month-end close periods.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a strong understanding of US-GAAP and external audit requirements.
• Experience: Current accounting or finance student with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, accounting software, and ERP systems.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills to collaborate with a high-performing team, and the ability to multitask effectively to meet deadlines.
• Bonus: Experience utilizing Microsoft Business Central is ideal.
