Accounting Intern (Spring 2028) | SVA | A Professional Services Company

• Location: In-person Brookfield, WI
• Team: Accounting team, reporting to a People Leader, with a dedicated Buddy for onboarding.
• Mission: Provide current accounting students with hands-on experience in a CPA firm during the busy season, performing duties similar to an entry-level staff accountant.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Work: Prepare a variety of tax returns for individual, trust, and business entities, including support workpapers, extensions, and Forms 1099 information returns.
• Audit and Assurance Work: Complete assigned audits, reviews, and compilations, and prepare simple financial statements and analytic workpapers to identify trends.
• Accounting Activities: Analyze data, prepare financial reports, post journal entries, and make adjustments to the working trial balance.
• Advisory Services: Gain experience in various accounting software, assist in preparing complex Excel spreadsheets for valuations and data analytics, and contribute to special accounting projects.
• Research and Calculation: Research basic federal and state tax issues, and accurately calculate depreciation and amortization schedules for various assets.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum of 3 years of college experience, pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field; this is an Entry-Level role.
• Experience: Desire to gain hands-on experience in a CPA firm during the busy season, with an interest in performing duties similar to an entry-level staff accountant.
• Skills: Foundational understanding of accounting principles, ability to analyze data, aptitude for preparing financial reports, and willingness to learn various accounting software and spreadsheet applications.
