Accounting Intern – Shared Services | Herc Rentals

The TL;DR

• Team: Supports the Accounting and Finance teams
• Mission: To support the accounting close and reporting cycle by assisting in the preparation of journal entries, process refinement, and system implementations.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounting Cycle Learning: Learn about the company’s accounting cycle, including balance sheet account reconciliations, journal entries, internal controls, and financial analysis.
• Internal Reporting: Prepare internal reports by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and other systems.
• General Ledger Management: Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and reconciling accounts.
• Financial Data Research: Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
• Compliance Understanding: Understand and maintain Sarbanes Oxley internal control compliance and financial reporting requirements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance with an Accounting focus; Entry-Level career status.
• Experience: Currently enrolled at a university with a minimum GPA of 2.5/3.0 in major, and completed a minimum of 9 credit hours in Accounting major coursework or similar.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
