This is an Accounting/Finance Internship for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Summary:
This internship is designed for UM-Flint School of Management Accounting & Finance students in their Junior/Senior year. It offers practical experience within the university’s financial services department and qualifies for UM-Flint’s academic internship requirement of 3 credit hours towards graduation.
Responsibilities:
• Internal Controls and GAP Analysis: Assist the Campus Controller in preparing and reviewing departmental financial internal control documents and identifying gaps to ensure compliance with University Policies.
• Departmental Support: Run reports and provide financial analysis to various departments.
• Journal Entries: Assist in processing monthly journal entries.
• Accounting Reconciliation: Reconcile monthly Financial Reports to source documents.
• Procurement Processing: Process all UM-Flint utility bills and ensure payments are made.
• Office Support: Provide general office support as needed, including answering phones, copying, and filing.
Required Qualifications:
• Must be a UM-Flint School of Management Accounting or Finance student.
• Must be in your Junior to Senior year ONLY.
• This internship is specifically for the FALL 2025 – WINTER 2026 academic terms.
• Availability: Must be available to work 20-24 hours per week during office hours (8:00 am – 5:00 pm), Monday-Friday.
• The internship can also potentially start in August before the Fall 2025 term.

Modes of Work:
• Onsite: The work requires a fully onsite presence at a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.
• Positions eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change.
Background Screening:
• The University of Michigan conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer.
• A third-party administrator may be used, and checks are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
