Intern – Accounting | Atlas Healthcare Partners

The Tone:
This is an internship at Atlas Healthcare Partners, located in an in-person office environment, forming strategic partnerships with health systems nationwide to develop, manage, and operate Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs). This role supports the Accounting Department with essential financial operations, including reconciliations, financial analysis, and month-end close activities, providing structured training and professional development within the healthcare segment. The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person
• Team: Reports to Senior Accountant or Manager – Facility Accounting.
• Mission: Support the Accounting Department with reconciliations, financial analysis, and month-end close activities under supervision, gaining exposure to core financial operations of multiple facilities.
• Tech Stack: Excel (vlookups, xlookups, sumifs, pivot tables)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Journal Entry Preparation: Assist in the accurate preparation of various journal entries under the guidance of senior accounting staff, contributing to precise financial record-keeping.
• Account Reconciliations: Independently perform detailed reconciliations for assigned accounts, which include cash, prepaid assets, and fixed assets, ensuring all financial records are balanced.
• Financial Analysis & Reporting: Support monthly expense review with basic variance explanations and contribute to P&L and budget-to-actual analysis, assisting in the preparation of financial reporting packages.
• Process Improvement & Support: Participate in the documentation of policies, procedures, and process improvement projects, while also supporting other departments on finance-related requests as assigned.
• Professional Development & Projects: Engage in structured training, mentorship, and professional development activities, taking on ad hoc projects to deepen knowledge of accounting and office operations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. This position requires active enrollment as a junior, senior, or graduate student in a program focusing on Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Candidates must possess a foundational understanding of core accounting principles, acquired through relevant coursework.
• Experience: Demonstrated intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential, encompassing skills such as vlookups, xlookups, sumifs, and the ability to create and utilize pivot tables for comprehensive data analysis and reporting.
• Skills: Strong communication and collaboration abilities are critical for effectively interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds in a fast-paced environment. The role also requires attention to detail, problem-solving capabilities, and the capacity to multitask efficiently.
• Bonus: A genuine interest in the specific field of healthcare finance, coupled with a proactive curiosity to understand complex business drivers relevant to Ambulatory Surgery Centers. Additional education or prior experience in a related finance or accounting setting is also preferred.
