Our client, in Biddeford, ME, is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join their team. About The Role
In this dynamic position, you will play a crucial role in supporting various departments, including accounting, customer service, and general office functions. Your responsibilities will encompass assisting with accounts receivable, accounts payable, basic accounting tasks, and providing essential customer service support. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your skills across multiple departments and make a meaningful impact on daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable
- Process customer invoices and payments accurately and on time.
- Help resolve billing issues by collaborating with Finance, Customer Service, and Sales teams.
- Scan invoices and maintain related documentation.
- Make collection calls and update Accounts Receivable aging records.
- Assist with meeting cash collection goals.
Accounts Payable
- Enter and code vendor invoices.
- Process credit card payments.
- Enter TERs (Travel Expense Reports) into the system.
- Manage payment schedules, cut checks, and scan completed payables.
General Accounting
- Reconcile petty cash.
- Assist with bank reconciliations.
Customer Service Support
- Provide friendly, timely communication with customers.
- Follow up on quotes and sample requests.
- Enter and track quote/sample data.
- Answer questions and help resolve customer needs.
- Support customer order entry when needed.
Reception Backup
- Answer multi-line phones in a professional manner.
- Greet and assist visitors.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience in AP/AR or customer service preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- MRP (Material Requirements Planning) or CRM (Customer Relationship Management) experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based fully onsite in Biddeford, ME.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 – $24.00/hr.
