What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Management: Maintain a variety of spreadsheets and pivot tables, utilizing daily and monthly data files to gather and organize information essential for supporting journal entries.
• Journal Entries: Prepare numerous journal entries related to claims and premium activity, ensuring these are accurately posted to the general ledger as part of the monthly closing procedures.
• Account Reconciliation: Prepare and complete numerous account reconciliations for various general ledger accounts, a key component of the closing process, often involving research.
• Financial Analysis: Utilize a range of computer software packages and other financial system reports to thoroughly support, analyze, and reconcile financial data specifically pertaining to premium and claims for various BCBSMA products and lines of business.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field, suitable for an entry-level professional. Candidates should possess a strong work ethic and a clear desire to grow and learn within the accounting field.
• Experience: 1-3 years of desired experience in Accounting or a related field.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills with an enjoyment for the research and reconciliation process, strict attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access is required, along with the capacity to work effectively in a time-sensitive environment and consistently meet monthly deadlines.
