Accountant | SHINE Management Inc

The Tone:
This is a full-time hybrid role supporting a construction company, for which SHINE Management Inc is recruiting. This customer is a construction company that effectively manages multiple concurrent field projects, supported by various crews, subcontractors, and vendors. The role of Accountant is pivotal, ensuring accurate and timely financial processing across all operations. This critical function directly impacts the smooth running of payroll, vendor payments, and customer billing. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented position, ideal for a professional eager to own the complete transactional accounting cycle, from initial entries to final collections, while meticulously maintaining clean, current, and audit-ready financial records.

• Mission: Own the full transactional accounting cycle, ensuring accurate and timely payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable for a construction company.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Payroll Management: Process weekly payroll for office staff and field crews, including prevailing-wage, while maintaining accurate employee records and ensuring timely tax withholdings and filings.
• Accounts Payable Operations: Manage the full AP cycle by entering, coding, and processing vendor invoices and subcontractor pay applications, preparing payment runs, and maintaining organized AP records.
• Accounts Receivable Management: Generate and issue customer invoices and progress billings, track outstanding receivables, apply customer payments accurately, and manage collections.
• General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain the chart of accounts and job-costing structure within QBO and perform monthly bank and credit card account reconciliations.
• Financial Reporting & Support: Assist with month-end close tasks, including accruals and prepaid schedules, and provide ad hoc financial reporting and analysis to company leadership.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of dedicated transactional accounting experience, encompassing hands-on responsibilities in payroll processing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions. A business degree or equivalent additional experience in accounting and finance is required.
• Experience: Demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is a mandatory requirement. Additionally, prior experience with job-costing or project-based accounting is essential, ideally gained within construction, contracting, or field-services industries.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in Excel, including capabilities for complex reconciliations and basic reporting, is necessary. The role demands high attention to detail, robust organizational abilities to consistently manage recurring deadlines such as payroll and billing cycles, and clear, professional communication abilities for diverse interactions.
• Bonus: Experience utilizing multiple payroll platforms is advantageous. A solid understanding of GAAP fundamentals and familiarity with specific construction billing practices, including AIA-style progress billing, retainage, and lien waivers, is also a significant plus.
