Junior Accountant – Remote | Optum

• Team: Optum Care Delivery team, on the revenue / cash team
• Mission: This person solves for accurate tracking and reporting of revenue and AR/cash activity to support the financial health of the medical services business.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger Management: Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities to produce accurate financial statements and reports.
• Month-End & Quarterly Close: Reconcile, analyze, and review general ledger accounts, assisting or leading the month-end and quarterly-end close processes for assigned businesses.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis, investigating issues and providing clear explanations and interpretations of findings.
• Audit & Compliance: Prepare journal entries, ensuring accounting classifications adhere to generally accepted accounting principles, and create documentation to support internal and external audits.
• Statement Preparation: Analyze and prepare comprehensive financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent.
• Experience: 1+ years of professional accounting experience.
• Skills: Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements; Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Proven ability to assess and interpret customer needs, identify solutions for non-standard requests, and solve moderately complex problems and analyses.
