Staff Accountant | PerformYard
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at PerformYard, located remotely. PerformYard is a profitable, growth-stage B2B SaaS company that transforms how organizations manage and measure employee performance through its AI-enabled platform. As the company launches its second product, this Staff Accountant role is critical for managing the increasing transaction volume and billing complexity, thereby freeing up senior finance time for strategic analysis, forecasting, and reporting.

• Mission: Owns the daily accounting cycle and the billing inbox, enabling senior finance staff to focus on analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
• Tech Stack: DealHub (CPQ), CRM, ERP, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, Excel, Google Sheets.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Order to Cash: Support the full order-to-cash cycle, from closed-won deals through cash collection and revenue recording.
• Billing and Customer Support: Own the billing inbox as first responder for customer inquiries, PO/remittance requests, disputes, and W-9s, triaging issues for direct resolution or escalation.
• Accounts Receivable: Generate and send invoices, apply cash receipts, and manage collections outreach while maintaining the AR aging.
• Close and General Accounting: Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and account reconciliations for monthly close, while supporting sales tax filings and other routine compliance reporting.
• Process Improvement: Help build and improve close checklists and process documentation as the accounting function scales.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; solid grasp of accrual accounting and month-end close mechanics; familiarity with ASC 606 revenue recognition concepts.
• Experience: 2-3 years of accounting experience, with SaaS or subscription billing being a strong plus; experience owning a shared inbox or high-volume customer-facing queue; a track record of working effectively in a remote or distributed team with self-direction.
• Skills: Strong, professional written communication; strong Excel or Google Sheets skills including lookups, pivots, and reconciling large data sets; experience with a cloud ERP (such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or QuickBooks) and comfort learning new systems; reliable home internet and a suitable workspace for confidential financial information.
• Bonus: CPA-track coursework; experience through an ERP implementation or migration; exposure to CPQ or billing automation tooling.
