The Tone:
This is a full-time role for a growing accounting team, located in Houston, TX. Burnett Specialists Staffing is recruiting for a position that plays a crucial part in supporting daily accounting operations and financial integrity. This role is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accountant to expand their expertise across core accounting functions. It allows for building experience in general ledger, fixed assets, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.

• Mission: This role is responsible for supporting daily accounting activities, reporting, and special projects while continuing to build experience across general ledger, fixed assets, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, accounting systems, ERP systems, Microsoft Dynamics GP / Great Plains

What You’ll Actually Do
• Fixed Assets: Maintain fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, transfers, and asset updates.
• Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
• Month-End Close: Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
• Reconciliations: Complete bank, credit card, balance sheet, and other account reconciliations.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required. This role is for an early-career accountant with a solid foundation in general accounting.
• Experience: 1-3 years of accounting experience. Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close. Working knowledge of accounting or ERP systems.
• Skills: Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas and PivotTables. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, alongside strong written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Bonus: Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP / Great Plains. Fixed asset accounting experience. CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.
