Accountant II | Phoenix Children’s

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Phoenix Children’s, located in Phoenix, AZ. Phoenix Children’s is a leading pediatric health system dedicated to advancing hope, healing, and providing the best healthcare for children and their families. As an Accountant II, you will operate with substantial independence, applying established accounting policies and practices. Your work will be crucial in maintaining robust accounting controls and services, directly supporting the financial health and transparent reporting necessary for the organization’s mission and vision.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: Mon-Fri, Days, 8am-5pm
• Location: In-person, Phoenix, AZ

• Team: CORP | Accounting Services, generally supervised by an Accountant III or Manager
• Mission: This role ensures the accurate maintenance of accounting records and the integrity of financial controls, directly supporting the organization’s capacity for precise monthly closes and essential financial reporting to both internal and external stakeholders.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Record Keeping & Controls: Maintain accounting records and systems to ensure strong financial controls and services.
• Monthly Close Participation: Participate directly in the monthly closing process, including researching and preparing necessary journal entries.
• Account Reconciliation & Balance: Implement and maintain checks and balances to ensure all accounts are balanced and accurately accounted for during the monthly close process.
• Financial Reporting Support: Assist in the preparation of monthly reporting packages for senior management, and quarterly or annual reports for external audiences like bondholders.
• Periodic Account Reviews: Perform monthly and periodic reconciliations for assigned accounts, submitting them to an Accountant III or Manager for review in accordance with departmental practice.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with at least 20 hours of accounting coursework.
• Experience: At least two years of post-degree professional experience in accounting or finance functions.
• Skills: Moderate to strong proficiency in Excel.
• Bonus: A Master’s Degree in Finance or Accounting, or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification.
