The Tone:
This is a full-time role for a client of Corporate Resources of Illinois, located in Wheeling, IL, with a hybrid work option. The client is a mid-sized, growth-oriented construction materials distributor with over 50 years of continuous operation, serving large-scale commercial construction projects across five Midwest facilities. This Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records across multiple facilities, taking ownership of key accounting functions. The position is essential for supporting the company’s continued expansion in a manufacturing environment.

The TL;DR

• Pay: $75000–$85000 annually
• Team: Reports directly to the Controller.
• Mission: This person will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records and support critical accounting processes for a growing construction materials distributor.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Suite (including advanced Excel), accounting software.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconcile: Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements, ensuring financial accuracy and consistency.
• Oversee: Maintain and monitor internal controls, supporting compliance reviews and audit requests.
• Analyze: Conduct detailed transaction reviews and account analysis, investigating variances and identifying discrepancies.
• Support: Assist with the preparation of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting activities, and external auditor documentation.
• Process: Prepare and post journal entries, contributing to efficient month-end and year-end close processes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in Accounting or Finance.
• Experience: 2+ years’ experience in a similar role within accounting.
• Skills: Strong understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles, advanced Excel proficiency, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, comfortable with and quick to learn accounting software, and deadline driven.
